Ages 10-15: Teenage MK’s

Being a missionary kid means your story is different, but different does not mean forgotten. You are part of the U.S. Missions family, and God cares about your life, your friendships, your questions, your gifts, and your faith. Whether you are moving, serving with your family, starting a new school, or figuring out where you fit, this page is here to remind you that you are seen, loved, and called to follow Jesus right where you are.

Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.

Why our Teenage MK’s are Important

❋ They are discovering who God made them to be

Ages 10-15 are important years for identity, faith, and belonging. MK’s in this stage are beginning to understand their own story, their own gifts, and the unique ways God can use their lives.

❋ They are part of the mission right now

They do not have to wait until they are older to make a difference. Through their friendships, prayers, kindness, courage, and example, they can point people to Jesus wherever God has placed them.

❋ They help others see the real life of missions

Teenage MK’s remind churches and supporters that missions is not just something a family does. It is something a family lives. Their stories help others understand the joy, sacrifice, change, and calling that come with serving.

❋ They need space to ask questions and grow

Teenage MK’s are learning how to make faith personal. Creating space for their questions, struggles, and spiritual growth helps them build a faith that is strong, honest, and their own.

Real-Life MK Topics

Life as an MK can be exciting, meaningful, confusing, and hard sometimes. These topics are here to help you think through your story, your faith, and your place in the mission.

God did not make you to blend in perfectly everywhere. Being different can feel lonely sometimes, but it can also give you a unique way to love people, understand others, and point them to Jesus.
Starting over is hard. It is okay to miss people, places, and routines. God is still with you in every new season, and He can help you find peace, courage, and new friendships.
Your parents’ ministry matters, but your story matters too. You are not just “the missionary’s kid.” You are known by God, loved by God, and created with purpose.
You do not have to pretend to be perfect. God wants your real heart, not a fake version of you that looks fine on the outside. You can be honest with Him and with trusted people who care about you.
Questions do not mean your faith is broken. They can be part of growing. God is not afraid of your questions, and you can talk to Him, your parents, a pastor, or a trusted leader when you are working through them.
You can pray, encourage, serve, invite, listen, and be kind. Small acts of faithfulness matter more than you think.
