You are not aging out of the U.S. Missions family. You are stepping into a new part of your story. Whether you are finishing high school, starting college, working, moving out, or figuring out what faith looks like on your own, God is still with you. Your life matters, your story matters, and you can live on mission wherever God leads you next.

Why our Young Adult MK’s are Important

❋ Their faith is becoming their own

Ages 16–22 are years of decisions, transition, and ownership. Young Adult MKs are learning what it means to follow Jesus for themselves, not just because of their family’s calling.

❋ They are preparing for what comes next

Whether they are finishing school, starting college, entering the workforce, or stepping into adulthood, this stage matters. They need encouragement, guidance, and support as they take their next steps.

❋ They can live sent wherever God leads

They may not all become missionaries, but they can all live on mission. In their schools, workplaces, campuses, churches, and friendships, God can use their lives to show others the love of Jesus.

❋ They still belong to the missions family

Young Adult MKs may be moving into a new season, but they are not forgotten. Their story, experiences, and voice still matter to God, to their family, and to the U.S. Missions community.

Faith, Transition, and Next Steps

Life at the end and after high school can bring a lot of change. These topics are here to help you process your story, own your faith, and take your next step with confidence.

  • Growing up around ministry can give you a front-row seat to what God is doing, but your faith still has to become personal. You are allowed to ask honest questions, wrestle through hard seasons, and follow Jesus with a real faith that belongs to you.

  • Being an MK can make belonging feel complicated. God sees every part of your story, including the parts that feel hard to explain. You are not strange for needing time to figure out where you fit.

  • It is okay to admit when ministry life feels heavy. God is not asking you to fake spiritual excitement. He invites you to bring Him your honest heart and find rest in Him.

  • College, work, money, relationships, church, and calling can feel like a lot all at once. You do not have to figure it all out in one day. Take the next faithful step.

  • Your family’s calling matters, but you are not only an extension of your parents’ ministry. God knows your name, your gifts, your questions, and your future.

  • You are not weak for needing support. Talk with a parent, pastor, trusted leader, counselor, or mentor if you feel stuck, overwhelmed, anxious, or alone.

Preparing for What’s Next

    Find Christian community, look for a local church, connect with Chi Alpha if it is available near you, and build rhythms that keep your faith rooted.

    Your workplace can be a place of purpose. Show up with integrity, serve people well, and look for ways to reflect Jesus in ordinary moments.

  • Moving Out

    New independence can be exciting and overwhelming. Build healthy habits, stay connected to trusted people, and keep Jesus at the center of your decisions.

Live Sent Wherever You Are

You do not need a title, platform, or ministry job to live on mission. God can use your life right where you are.

At School

Pray for friends, encourage people who feel unseen, and look for simple ways to share the hope of Jesus.

At Work

Be faithful, kind, honest, and present. Sometimes your witness starts with how you treat people.
Serve Somewhere. Worship faithfully. Let people know you. You still need community, even if you grew up around ministry.
